The Onyfix® Nail Correction System is an innovative treatment solution to treat ingrown or involuted (Curved/Pincer) toenails by allowing the toenail to grow back to its natural shape without the need for invasive nail surgery. It is a painless treatment option that can be applied to your toenails during a regular consultation with your Podiatrist.
Onyfix® is considered safe for use in adults and children of all ages. It is non-surgical option for high-risk patients such as people with Diabetes, peripheral neuropathy and vascular disease as well as people with needle phobias and allergies to local anaesthetics.
HOW IT WORKS
The Onyfix® Nail Correction System uses a hardened composite resin that is shaped into a thin strip/band on the base of the nail plate and cured using a LED light. This works by bracing the nail shape as it grows from the base of the nail until the end of the toe. As the toenail grows, the Onyfix® composite band will grow with the toenail to enable the nail plate to grow in the desired correct position.
The Onyfix® system is affixed to your toenail initially for approximately 6-8 weeks to monitor the nail growth and shape. During this time, additional bands can be applied to the toenail to ensure that the desired result is obtained for up to 6-12 months. When the treatment has been completed successfully, your Podiatrist will remove the Onyfix® band off the nail plate.
While the Onyfix® strip is on the nail plate, there is minimal after care post application. You can shower and swim as normal 24 hours after application. You can apply nail polish over the top of the Onyfix® strip, provided that it can be removed with nail polish remover. Shellac or Gel nail polish must never be applied with Onyfix® as it will make the treatment ineffective.
If you are experiencing problems with ingrown toenails or involuted (curled/pincer) toenails, then the Podiatrists at Foot & Sole Podiatry can provide you with a treatment plan incorporating The Onyfix® Nail Correction System as a solution to your painful toenails.
